Aussie Wine Crush: First ever post
April 20, 2009

Barossa Valley Vines
Everyone likes Australian wine at least a little bit. Bottles of certain brands seem to show up at nearly every get together (I’m sure you can name five brands under $12 right now).
I have a massive interest in Australian wine. After several trips to wine regions in South Australia, I’ve tried to veer away from the same-old brands, and have begun to appreciate the effort of wineries in crafting premium, tasty refreshments.
Many are family-run and visitors are heaped with oodles of tasting samples and staff friendliness. Seriously one winery plied me with what seemed like the equivalent of half a bottle of wine in tastings. No complaints here. As for friendliness, I have always felt welcomed and never intimated. At the beginning of my wine explorations I *throat-clearing noise* lamely asked Langmeil winery staff if chocolate or pepper were added to the wine. I was politely told no, but that lots of people ask the same question.
BLOG GOAL:
This blog aims to chat about the wine, and create interest in the actual wineries and wine industry. I know the Australian industry has been taking flak lately for various reasons, and I would love for people to really get into quality quaffs coming out of the country.
Cheers.
Heather

when i was in australia, i relied on my cheap-ass local friends to suggest things, and all i remember having was something by brothers (?) and a LOT of wine in a box.
i think that means i should get new friends.
will be checking in for some decent recommendations now that i’ve found this site!

C: thanks for the comment. Maybe you were thinking of Brown Brothers wine? As for boxed wine, there is certainly a place in my heart for that. cheers!
